Money Making Update with Paid Posts

Time for a quick update on my progress to date in making cash from blogging. Just recall that I have four blogs and that these numbers represent cash made from all four posting paid articles on them. Also note that the best ranked blog has a PR of zero (thanks payperpost!), an Alexa of 990,000 and a Technorati rank of 220,000. My other blogs have page ranks of 2 or 3 but Alexa and Technorati rankings well below my main blog. Remember - traffic = money and therefore rankings = money too....

So let's look at each money making (article posting service) scheme in turn and look at earnings to date....

Sponsored Reviews
Sponsored Reviews has been my best performer. The service appears to be unique in that you bid on advertisers opportunities and I really do like this feature since I detest getting a bunch of opportunities simply handed to me for things like face lifts, belly tucks and penis enlargement when it has NOTHING to do with the content of my site.

However, opportunities seem to dry up from time-to-time and so it is sporadic and unplannable at best. Recently, I have also earned some payments for signing up an advertiser at the site too...

It was quite easy to get signed up and more importantly, I like the way they rank blogs with less emphasis on Alexa and more on back links. Prompt payments by paypal.

Average Monthly Earnings: $19.33
Minimum Monthly Earnings: zero
Maximum Monthly Earnings: $45.50
Total Earnings: $96.65

Payperpost
PayPerPost is a good service in terms of support but....forced use of disclosure badges screws your Google page rank and most picky in terms of approvals of posts. Many rules on what a post needs to look like for approval too - no other advertising in post for example.

Also - difficult to get opportunities at times. You almost have to stay logged on the site 24 by 7 and click to update constantly - more bloggers than opportunities. Also make you wait 1 month before payment but payment quick and easy by paypal. Difficult to get blog approved and then must have 10 approved posts before you can submit another blog...on balance...probably more trouble than it is worth.

Started Service: April, 2008
Average Monthly Earnings: $53.00
Minimum Monthly Earnings: $20.00
Maximum Monthly Earnings: $86.00
Total Earnings: $106.00

Smorty
Smorty is another good service but one that recently hasn't had many opportunities. Approval of my blogs was relatively easy and pain free, the site is easy to use but opportunities are allocated to you. Payment is quick, slick and via paypal.

Started Service: January, 2008
Average Monthly Earnings: $16.32
Minimum Monthly Earnings: zero
Maximum Monthly Earnings: $49.20
Total Earnings: $81.60

Blog To Profit
A strange little site but easy to use. Blog approval was straightforward but opportunities are allocated to you blog each month and they are often totally mismatched to blog content. Pays just $5 per article with few rules. Easy to use but infrequent opportunities and low payout are issues. Pays via paypal promptly.

Started Service: March, 2008
Average Monthly Earnings: $3.33
Minimum Monthly Earnings: zero
Maximum Monthly Earnings: $5.00
Total Earnings: $10.00

Summary
I have signed up for other services and never had my blogs approved (maybe the site is actually dead since it's not that my blogs weren't approved they were simply never reviewed) and yet others were I haven't been allocated a single opportunity. So, I have stuck to hose above and recently worked a bit with SocialSpark - another IZEA site.... I'll report on that later.

In the final, there is money to be made but it doesn't amount to much. I guess it covers the expenses associated with blogging. Currently, for the year, I am $52.00 in profit across all blogs with all expenses and all (paid) revenues included......
