Get Rich Quick Schemes - Let's be Real About Blogging for Money

The one thing that I can tell you about 'get rich quick schemes' is that it is unlikely to be you that gets rich. Unfortunately, the internet is full of such schemes and they are instantly recognizable - so stay away from them.
Let's be honest. Sites that make a lot of money on the Internet don't do it through pay per click ads, paid blog posts or any of these programs. They make money through two vehicles;
1. Paid custom advertising; and,
2. Referral schemes.
Let's understand this.
Paid Advertising
If you have a top flight website with a ton of traffic or a good deal of traffic in a niche market you can sell ads yourself directly. An Intenet site I am a partner in is the Energy Hedge Fund Center. Because of it's brand and presence in a niche we can and do command upwards of $5000 per month for a banner ad and $2000 per month for other ads. You won't find any Google ads there - we don't need them.
Referral Schemes
This is what folks like John Chow do to make money. They get you signed up for various schemes. They have enough traffic to get thousands of you to sign up and they make their money based on your hard work to generate cash. Its that simple. You visit their website, use a click through link to sign up for some money making program and it carries their ID with it. You then make a small amount of money and they get their 10%. There are thousands of you doing this for them so they get 10% of thousands of small amounts of money - that equals quite a lot of cash for them.
The fact is you can make money from your blog but unless you have a niche presence or thousands of visitors a day - it will never be enough to give up that day job. It can be nice pocket money though so stay tuned to find out more....
